BLOGGERS, AUTHORS, TWITTERATI : HOW DO YOU PREVENT PALGIARISM AND IDEA THEFT ?

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO TRAIN SOME 300 SMART PEOPLE TO DATE. SOME HAD GREAT IDEAS. I WANTED THEM TO MAKE MONEY FROM THEM. SOME HAD THEIR IDEAS STOLEN. #PATENTTROLLS #IPRI

I took many classes and also learned a great deal of software, coding and analytics by myself. I worked for a company that hired me to analyze data.
One day, a superior complained about how little email space they get. I said: Well some emails are evidence. So that is not ethical!" He submitted that idea, never gave me credit. I never shared another idea. He asked me if I was okay because I did not have a smart comment any more during meetings. I told him that I am in "Observe and report mode."

During my post graduate studies , I created a system to update information about a hypothesis without manual curating. a professor had his student put that in  his  thesis.
It was meant for my thesis.

The problem gets compounded when your idea is stolen by a superior you trust.


Now when I have an idea, I don't share it. If I am forced to, I set a trap.
I trained a kid to code in a scripting language. I knew he would copy from the  first 10 matches he would get in Google. I gave him a list of sites to not copy from. ( Also, in this kind of teaching environment, if you dont cite, you lose 30% of your grade and you should feel lucky I did not turn you in for unprofessional behavior and lack of academic integrity.) He asked for extra time and did everything on his own, 0 plagiarism. I created a smart coder.

Its harder to monitor when your audience in the social media is much larger and there are unethical people everywhere. If you are blogging, who owns your work? The hosting platform? How will you prevent the theft of your ideas? If you have pins, who owns them. Because they are public, should I be able to use them any way I want?

I now know 45 authors who also blog and thats the major ones making a million a year.
How do they prevent plagiarism?  How did Seamus Heany protect his beautiful imagery via the phrase " cascades of chlorophyll " ( My beer bud told me not to use this, b/c it sounds sissy. In his defense, we both had a beer or two.)

GIZMODO's POLARIS Slingshot. #unblogged

No Blog about Stats, just my fave blog.

Gizmodo  is my fave. Probably because I heart all things tech.
I subscribe to their email.

I loved the Polaris Slingshot review. Many must have reviewed it, but Gizmodo has a special place in my heart.

Since Sean Posted about the Polaris Slingshot I hate my life. I will get me a life coach and try to get the Polaris Slingshot as a part of my job perk. If I were Sean, I would do a MILLION things with the Slingshot.
This is the reason for Gizmodo  being so addictive. They use enticing pictures of stuff that you will dream about.








 I would drive up to my Starbucks in the slingshot, demand a freebie b/c now I out did that gang of bikers, brought a mob of kids to the Starbucks.
I would go to the Hyatt and then park where everyone could see and then use it for publicity. I would drive up to the retirement home, pick up my nana and then  go pick up her 'scrip'.

One swanky ride can do all that? No. It opens the door to my imagination is all. I do feel its a dangerous ride.
 I wont become the drift king, but I would go in with an agenda. True what Sean did was Way cooler. Some of us have an idea of how to use this #Ubercool ride.  Sean gets EVERYTHING!!! :/

FRUGALITY AND COUPONING BLOG POPULARITY : WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS?

We need to live frugally. I  for one have forced myself to read frugality, DIY, money management and even couponing blogs.

The Pennyhoarder is one such blog that will teach you to Earn, save and GROW your money. I mention him here as well. The Pennyhoarder introduced me to so many new areas.




I was so inspired when I read his blog. He quit doing a 9-5 and his blog is worth more than a million.

He has a 3/10 GooglePage Rank. Kyle solves the problem of having a 9-5 job where your job may hurt more than it helps!!


Then there is Jenny Martin. I was looking for an affordable printer and my search lead me to her site.
I have not looked back since.





Her site has more than 1.2 million unique visitors, every day.
I depended on her for organic food, printer and some electronics.
There are many blogs like this. I think of all these blogs as MONEY blogs. They help you save money and earn money, usually from home.

Here are some blogs that I wanted to discuss, to inspire all of us.

Loveandlemons.com has a sizable following. It branched out to Instys, and was awarded the Best food blog. When you read it, you will get why. It is clean, simple and speaks to every one.

Foodbabe is a food blog with a cause. It has 118,426 daily visitors. It started around 7-8 years ago, and now it is a movement.

DailyKos has above 7 million visitors daily, and  Politico is a close second.


Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey can save us money. Thepennyhoarder.com started just a few years ago and now his site has tens of thousands of visitors everyday. Kyle Taylor  and Ramit Sethi will change how we think about earning money. Bradsdeals now commands the attention of so many people that businesses with e-commerce are paying very close attention.

Jenny Martin, a mom from South Carolina, started this little blog called Thesouthernsavers.com.  If she ran for office, she will likely win. Before her there was couponmom, if my numbers are right.
We all know that Perez Hilton started with a blog.


I haven't even started on the big ones yet.

Thanks to some ladies I know, I came to think of astrology very differently. there is a market for it.
Darkstarastrology has many daily visitors and does not miss a post or a big astrological event.

Jessica Adams is an astrologer, writer and has a blog and she is a globe trotter thanks to her accurate political predictions.I would not be surprised if she is on TV.

Social media is built around tweets, Youtube, texts, Instys, Pinterest and to some extent, Stumbleupon.
Your blog post gives you the freedom of more words and images, infografics etc. Or does it?
Human attention span lasts for 30 minutes on a topic that they care about. Your blogpost, along with mine is never a priority.
If you live with teenagers, you know that only 3 things will make them care: Food, shelter and the iOS/ #android.

This is your chance to capitalize on 10 items or less and 140 characters or less culture. BTW, INBD tho, but FB is not very #fetch ( a nod to #meangirls ). After five years on it, TISNF, but who cares.
All we want to do is selfies and tweet our shopping. In a poor economy, nothing makes your look  er.. I am lost for adjectives and adverb-eage.
 Microblog is anything from Twitter to Stubleupon.

Social media etiquette for  microblogging  your work:

I have many people reading my posts and some of you are wonderful. Thank you so much for your support. Please tweet me if you want to featured on my blog!

• Dont be a Twitter troll.
• Dont flood the twitter space with offensive images.
• Keep pics of Lingerie to your DMs, with permission.
• Dont tag anything without formal permission, regardless of the user's settings.
• ( If I take the pic and tag your id with it, would you be happy?)
• If you did do that, delete, apologize sincerely, admit to the pettiness behind it and move on.

Last I checked people have lost millions over awful remarks.
Twitter pals are very  important, but beware the tweeter who has a following of  40K without being a subject matter expert or a media person or the like. These tweeps collect followers. After 200 followers, what schedule are  you  following to pay individual attention? Does this mean that you don't work?

 Individual attention, followed by regular group tweet acknowledging some of your good pals is the currency for a meaningful following.

The power of the Retweet, re-pin and like 

Not to mention the fave on twitter!
Yes RT is awesome, but sometime I need a "verytrue " or "Trudat" button .
A retweet is the laziest form of endorsement. Also the most ambiguous. If you are re-tweeting my '???" and were not a part of the original convo, please modify your tweet. What do you mean by a retweet of my ???. All I seek is a clear explanation for this kind of behavior!
I dont know you from Jack, so your tweets are everything. You could be a 21 yr old with an Angrybird obsesh, which is loved by pets too BTW, or a 300lb trucker who always mistypes that as thst. It happens a lot, but when you type" besutiful" 67 times in a 1 week window, I am beginning to think that it is a word in a foreign dictionary.
FYI, there are faves, RT and MT. MTs are modified tweets where you add your own words, but acknowledge that you are modifying, using via and + or "" for the body of the main tweet.

Misleading Titter stats: Saudis tweet a lot, Some countries have banned Twitter, so what is the likely hood of your gaining visibility by tweeting to a specific audience?  What group will get your post the highest visibility via RTs? Sadly, the 20 yr old.  The  20 something across  the world loves telling us about the "haps". My multivariate analyses show that at any given time, they are also less involved in #socialchange #socialgood, not so LOL!
